Millions of people live with blood pressure that needs monitoring. Many measure it themselves, at home, note their figures, pass them to their doctor. Without always knowing it, they produce health data — and often, they lose track of it.

Vertical Health Data starts from this person. Not from the system, not from the tool: from the patient and from what becomes of their data, once it has left their hands.

A disease lived over time and through measurement

Arterial hypertension is a common, often silent condition, followed over time. Its follow-up rests on measurement, repetition, coordination between several professionals — GP, cardiologist, pharmacist, laboratory.

This follow-up, spread over years and many points of contact, generates a continuous flow of data. It is this flow — not the disease itself — that VHD observes and structures.

What becomes of a simple blood-pressure reading

A figure taken in the morning travels: from a blood-pressure monitor to an app, from a notebook to a record, from a practice to a hospital, from one piece of software to another. Along the way, it changes medium, hands, status.

VHD follows this journey end to end: where the data comes from, where it passes, who receives it, what it becomes. It is mapping work — making visible a pathway no one looks at as a whole.

Where the data escapes the person

It is not the tools that are the problem, but their joints — the moments when data changes hands without anyone really keeping control.

• When a measurement goes to an app, its owner often does not know where it is stored, for how long, and who else can access it.
• When a reading must reach the doctor, the channel varies — and with it, the reliability of the follow-up.
• When data is reused for purposes other than care, the conditions are rarely legible.

Naming these breakpoints, precisely, is the first condition for reducing them.

A method, not an opinion

Vertical Health Data has formalised a systematic way of mapping the data of a pathology, from the point of view of the person who produces it. The same method applies tomorrow to other diseases — hypertension is its first testing ground.

This method crosses four requirements: compliance, data quality, its value for care, and the clarity of its governance. It replaces neither the caregiver nor the patient: it sheds light on the ground on which they advance.
